Beyond Gender is a European project that offers individuals of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to:
• Gain a deeper understanding of different gender identities and sexual orientations;
• Learn to develop healthy and positive behaviors in their affective and sexual lives;
• Better understand themselves, define their needs, desires, and boundaries;
• Break free from gender stereotypes to shape their own identity.
We aim to help everyone build their personal journey of love, sexuality, and identity with confidence. For both young adults and older generations, learning about ASL and developing relational skills is essential for personal fulfillment.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Beyond Gender seeks to promote active dialogue about affective and sexual life, gender identities, and sexual orientations across generations.
Over three and a half years, five European associations (in France, Spain, and the Netherlands) are developing educational materials to challenge stereotypes related to gender, age, and social or cultural background. To facilitate intergenerational discussions and encourage free expression, the project’s activities draw on popular education, intercultural pedagogy, and artistic and cultural mediation.
The project targets audiences of all ages because there is no age limit to thriving in one’s affective and sexual life or exploring gender identities and sexual orientations.
The educational materials are specifically designed for education and training professionals, equipping them with resources and tools to address these topics effectively with their audiences.
Beyond Gender also includes:
• A manual, featuring case studies, a glossary of gender identities and sexual orientations, and an analysis of stereotypes related to gender, sexual orientation, and age.
• A toolkit, offering step-by-step pedagogical guides using theatrical methods to help individuals identify and manage emotions.
• A video series, showcasing testimonials from individuals with transgender experiences, along with a theoretical guide exploring various non-Western cultural practices around gender.
• An artistic mediation toolkit, promoting the development of positive identities connected to gender and sexual orientation through creative activities.
